Looking for an idea for New Beginnings or Young Women in Excellence or even Activity Days? Here’s an idea that we used for New Beginnings this year. We created a beautiful evening centered around Elder Dieter F. Uchtdorf’s talk and book (get the ebook for free right now for Kindle!) Your Happily Ever After.

I love this talk and its message is perfect to share with young women and girls. Not only would this theme work for Young Women activities, but it would make a great Activity Days Mom and Me or Recognition activity.

Young Womanhood Recognition Certificates (Ward & Stake)

A sweet blog reader from California asked me if I could make a Young Womanhood Recognition (YW medallion) certificate for her stake. She wanted something in addition to the standard Church certificate so her stake YW presidency could honor girls who completed their Personal Progress at a special stake YW event. To help her, I created an 8.5×11-inch document similar to my Honor Bee Certificate with spaces for both the stake president’s and the stake YW president’s signatures as well as another certificate that is a ward version, with spaces for bishop’s and ward young women’s president’s signatures. Personal Progress Honor Bee Certificate: Editable/Saveable PDF

One of the amazing girls in our ward has just completed her second Honor Bee! That is the award the girls can earn after they’ve earned their Young Womanhood Recognition award. Earning an Honor Bee is a great way for those girls who complete their Personal Progress quickly to stay engaged and who need something more to do.

Instructions for earning an Honor Bee are in the back of the Personal Progress book and consist of re-reading the Book of Mormon and performing 40 hours of service for others. The girls are encouraged to help other Young Women complete their Personal Progress.

Once an Honor Bee is earned, the young woman is presented with a bee charm to add to their medallion necklace. And, girls can earn as many Honor Bees as they want!

When our cute young woman let us know she had earned her Honor Bee, I went looking for an accompanying certificate to give her. Surprise! The Church does not have one! So, I made my own and share it with you.

The 2014 Mutual Theme Is Announced!

The Church has announced the 2014 Mutual Theme! It is:

I am excited this theme focuess on Our Savior, Jesus Christ and hope it will help our Young Women develop stronger testimonies of Him.

To go with this theme, I will be working on a 2014 Mutual Theme logo in the next several weeks as well as creating a 2104 Personal Progress calendar and a 2014 planning calendar for you.

My Latest Project: Everyday Storyteller 2

It has been a while since I’ve posted a project here. That’s because for the past few months I’ve been working hard with my friend Jennifer Wilson of Simple Scrapper on volume 2 of our popular book, Everyday Storyteller. If you’re a scrapbooker, either paper or digital, you know Everyday Storyteller is an inspiring idea book featuring articles from 33 of the industry’s leading scrappers. Now, along with our amazing graphic designer, Lynnette, we’re putting together Everyday Storyteller 2! And, we have a whole new line-up of amazing scrappers as contributors!

I love working behind the scenes on ES as copy editor and assistant to Jennifer and can’t wait until we release the new book (ebook and print formats) in May with a huge launch party and prizes.

YW 2013 Mutual Theme Candy Bar Wrapper for 6.8-ounce Symphony & Hershey’s Bars

Here is a much-requested 2013 Mutual Theme printable for you! It is a candy bar wrapper for the 6.8-ounce Symphony and Hershey’s bars. These are the large ones that are labeled giant. It has all the same features of my other candy bar wrappers: the 2103 Mutual Theme, a scripture-filled ingredients list, Stand as a Witness 24-7 barcode and a nutrition facts box filled with Young Women’s Personal Progress Values.
